I do agree that Astrology exists on a venn diagram which is why one should try to use it to a certain extent only and not rely completely on the predictions. Your perspective is always refreshing!
So many businessmen of India trust astrological predictions and so many astrologers but the state of our GDP, Innovation and research is very pitiable. Even Bangladeshi and Vietnamese are performing better than us!
I absolutely love this simple explanation of a very practical and balanced approach to astrology.
"I figured that astrology is like a weather prediction. If the weather guy tells you it’s going to rain today, you will carry an umbrella with you, and if he tells you it’s going to be windy and cold, you might carry a jacket. Similarly, if an astrologer predicts a potential life challenge, you might act more cautiously."
I used to get overly influenced by astrologers predictions, and then get really really upset when what they predicted didn't come true. For example, an astrologer told me that my entire world would open up for the better when I turned 41. I waited years for that to happen. What happened? I got divorced...and it was hell...and I cursed that astrologer for half a decade. But in hindsight, I realized that if I hadn't gotten divorced (and healed from it) I wouldn'nt be in the absolutely amazing place I am now. (sometimes the timelines of astrologers isn't quite on point either.)
But yeah, if Jupiter is ruling for the time being, I can expect sunny skies and Santa Clause like surprises, and if Mercury is Retro, I might want to be a little bit more cautious with me tech. And, the weather might shift without anyone noticing until it happens.
Wow, thank you for sharing that! I totally get where you're coming from—it's so easy to put too much weight on predictions and then feel disappointed when life takes a different turn. Your experience really highlights how things often work out in unexpected ways, and the growth we gain from tough situations can be priceless. And yeah, the timing isn’t always exact, but it’s great to stay open to the bigger picture. So glad you're in a better place now!
As someone who LOVES & is very knowledgeable about astrology, this was a balanced perspective that I enjoyed. I agree, astrology should never be something that you give over full control of your destiny to. At the end of the day, it all comes down to free will.
Thank you! 😊 I'm really glad you enjoyed my perspective on this. Totally agree—astrology can be a helpful tool for self-reflection, but free will is what drives our choices. It’s always empowering to remember that we’re in the driver’s seat of our lives!
Totally agree! You also just mentioned something that's another lesson in this - power. We give our power away when don't remember that we are in the drivers seat.
I do think astrology belongs on a Venn diagram somewhere. Not sure how much it should overlap. But I agree there is something to it.
And we know the moon affects a lot of things in nature. Us included.
Great essay, Sonaa.

This’ll be an interesting discussion…if done right.

Why? Whose Karma?
Both. :-)
